Healing Dolls

These dolls are created to address a specific area that a person desires to heal, physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. The intention of the healing is placed in the doll in her inner body using stones, charms, hair from the person being healed, and other objects that represent the intention. The doll itself is a manifestation of the healing intention through color, fabric, beads, etc. The dolls are inspired by the Divine Feminine and Mother Mary. They are powerful tools for healing physical illness for they carry the affirmation that one is already healed and whole. Katelyn personal experience: In 1998 I was diagnosed with a prolapsed womb and was told the only thing I could do was have a hysterectomy. I was determined to avoid having to do that and tried all types of alternative intervention strategies. In 2000 I decided to go on a pilgrimage to offer my problem to The Mother.
I have found over the years than intention is strengthened by the creation of a visual object that acts as a symbol of the intention. I created a powerful healing doll that I had intended to leave at the shrine placing my hair, stones and other objects in her body. As I prepared to take the journey, I worked with the doll, through prayer and meditation, to strengthen my intention to heal. I arrived in Patzcuaro on December 1, 2000 just as the entire town was beginning the weeklong process of preparing for the largest holiday festival of the year - the day dedicated to Our Lade of Good Health. It is said that Our Lady, at this shrine, has performed many healing miracles. I set up a shrine in my room at the monastery and dedicated it to Our Lady of Good Health and my healing using my doll as the centerpiece.

The first time I went to the Basilica and saw the Statue of Our Lady, her beauty stunned me. She is almost my size, with long brown, human hair and real clothes and jewelry, and she is honored by the people as though she is in human form. With over 400 years of prayer and dedication to her she seemed almost human. She wears a long velvet cape embroidered with gold designs. I was surprised to find that the doll I had created without even seeing her was an exact replica right down to the read and gold cape, which she wears only on this feast day. She normally wears a blue cape. I realized that I had connected with Our Lady of Health long before I had arrived. This doll, which is pictured here with a replica of the statue of Our Lady of Good Health provided a focus for the healing which eventually took place in my body.
